One part dream, one part reality, all parts rock in roll.
The Hoolinettes are from Bielefeld, Germany, the unknown secret city in the middle of the country with an “underdog” football team. The point is you will recognize that sound of “working man”,
oops, women rock-n-roll.
The Dream: Hoolinettes inception began in 2010 when Johari was looking to start a band with some “ladies”. With some creative lineup changes, what developed is a partnership between Timpone and
Johari that can’t be stopped and keeps on rockin’!
The Reality: Genre, um… definitely not easy listening. There are hard driving songs that make you think singer, Om Johari (USA) is telling you an important tale of some episode of life. Then
their sound will open with a classic pop-punk guitar riff from lead guitarist, Tania Timpone (DE), in which you realize, lyrically, these two chicks could also just toying with you.
After years of that “good ol’ Gospel” mixed with one part AC/DC and 2 parts soul, you have a raw vocal approach that could only be cultivated over time. Some songs written by Timpone can resonate
with such complex riffs that you know she is focused on rhythm as well as tone. Either way, there is always a hard back beat which can be heard in songs like The Deal.
All Parts Rock-n-Roll: If you haven’t seen them yet, catch them when you can. Cause the ingredients will knock your socks off.
